Learn how to promote Olympic Peninsula communities, businesses and not-for-profit organizations by staying within the provisions of the law, as set down by the U.S Amateur Sports Act of 1978, with regards to the legitimate uses of the word "Olympic" in its geographical applications in Western Washington and its grandfathered provisions for uses prior to September 23, 1950. Youra and Snyder promote the interests of Western Washington communities and businesses, either on Washington's Olympic Peninsula or those using the name "Olympic", under the grandfathered status of their 75-year old organization, "Olympic Peninsula Resort and Hotel Association (OPRHA)", begun in 1932, and, renamed "Olympic Peninsula Travel Association (OPTA)" in 1967, therefore, qualifying for lawful, grandfathered uses of the word "Olympic", as it was used in the sales of goods and services, prior to September 23, 1950, the exemption date for protected status under the Amateur Sports Act and under the 1998 U.S. Congressional Amendment to the Act.
