The Mukilteo ferry west of Everett connects travelers to the tiny town of Clinton near the southern tip of Whidbey Island. Highway 525 meanders north past little towns and attractions, some of which are worth the short jaunt off the main road up the island.
Langley, a few miles from the ferry landing attracts day trippers and over nighters. Boutiques and eateries line the sidewalks of the downtown overlooking tranquil views of the sea lanes below. Sprinkled in the woods and perched along the waterways are inns and getaways for adventurers seeking out of the way escapes.

RESERVATION FACTS
There is no fee for making a reservation.
Customers are strongly encouraged to make a reservation. Customers without reservations will travel on a space-available basis (standby). WSF will not be able to verify a space for your vehicle on a particular sailing until just prior to loading. A reservation confirms a space on the sailing of your choice.
Customers with reservations may arrive at the terminal no earlier than 90 minutes before departure time. WSF recommends reservation holders arrive 30 minutes prior to departure to ensure timely processing and boarding. Customers arriving late may forfeit their reservation.
To travel roundtrip, you will need to make a separate reservation for your Port Townsend departure and your Keystone departure. Limit one Port Townsend departure reservation and one Keystone departure reservation per day, per customer.
Reservations are for vehicles and motorcycles only. Motorcycles must make a reservation to ensure priority boarding on this route.
Traveling on Whidbey Island
Continuing up the island sightseers are invited to stop and taste local creations from seafood to fermented fruits of the vine.
Highway 525 joins Highway 20 which connects at Keystone to a short ferry ride across Admiralty Inlet to Port Townsend and the Olympic Peninsula.
Also at the junction with Highway 20 is the city of Coupeville, whose downtown is one of the attractions that is worth the short hop off the main drag. Its one block of stores, pubs, public pier and views of the water reward the visitor with a peaceful stroll into a quieter place and time.
The next city to the north is Oak Harbor on Highway 20, which continues through Deception Pass State Park, over Deception Pass Bridge and off the island to connect with Anacortes for ferries to the San Juan Islands or a quick zip to Interstate 5 and a return to civilization.
