Pacific Beaches
Pacific Beach, Copalis Beach and Moclips, 13 miles
north of Ocean Shores, offer beach resorts, fine dining and campgrounds along
the spacious coastline overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You can find miles of
beaches for beachcombing, fishing, clamming and hiking.
There are a number of fine resorts in the area, offering great view rooms and
easy access onto the sandy ocean beaches that line the shores of the Olympic
Peninsula. Two excellent resorts on the beach are Iron Springs and
Sandpiper. For another view of the coast, turn west at Humptulips. A
paved road travels past the Humptulips Fish Hatchery, open to the public, and
through the communities of Copalis Crossing and Copalis, known for many years as
the clam capital
of the world.
Moclips, once a thriving turn-of-the-century tourist community served
by two excursion trains per day, is now the location of popular motels and
resorts overlooking the Pacific Ocean. To stay in a wonderful ocean resort with a restaurant, choose Ocean Crest Resort, Moclips 800-684-8439
.
The Griffith-Priday Day Use Park, operated by the state, is an area
protected from beach driving. Kite flying and bird watching are favored spring
and summer activities in this picnic area located at the mouth of the Copalis
River.
