Ocean Shores
Ocean Shores is a popular recreational and retirement area west of
Aberdeen and Hoquiam on the beautiful sandy beaches of the Pacific Ocean. There
are many fine motels, restaurants and tourist activities for visitors.
Among the attractions in Ocean Shores are whale watching from
the north jetty, bird watching on the protected Damon Point area overlooking
Westport across the Harbor, and excellent bass and trout fishing with three
public access points on Duck Lake and 27 miles of freshwater canals joining three
lakes.
This recreational city, located 18 miles north of Hoquiam, is the northern
peninsula forming the mouth of Grays Harbor. It was settled in the 1870's and was
used for cattle grazing until it was developed in the early l960's with an
airport and a PGA golf course.
Accommodations in Ocean Shores with a view of the beach can be enjoyed at
Shilo Inn.
Ocean City, is the first community you arrive at north of Ocean
Shores. Ocean City is known as "the clam digging capital of the world".
There is camping and beachcombing around the area.
