Montesano
Montesano, Grays Harbor County seat, 11 miles east of Aberdeen. For those who like life in
the slow lane, a trip along old Highway 12 is a delight. There are a number of museums in the area.
The coolness of Lake Sylvia State Park, just north of the city limits, is a great picnic spot
that offers a small overnight camping area. Thirty miles northward, in the Olympic National Forest, is
the Wynoochee Dam Recreation area.
Between Montesano and Satsop is Shafer State Park in an area of prime lake and river fishing.
Across the valley are the 2 towers of the mothballed Satsop Nuclear Power Plant.
